Board of Directors

board of directors

Our school is led by a small and growing board deeply committed to our vision and with significant experience in education. The Board’s primary responsibilities are to create, adopt and monitor a long-term strategic plan and associated budget, and to employ and evaluate the leadership of our school.

Adrian Castaneda, Board Chair

Adrian is an Idaho native. He has a BS in Electronics Engineering of Technology with DeVry University and has studied Computer Science. While studying in Arizona, he met his future wife, Jessica, and they now live in Canyon County with their three remarkable children, Aunna, Alenna, and Alex.

Adrian has worked in a variety of fields ranging from technical, sales, and marketing and is experienced in the non-profit world as well.  Adrian utilizes a unique perspective of technology engineering to address inefficiencies and improve project management. His diverse knowledge in many applications has supported a variety of administrative functions such as marketing and communications, operations, finance, web design, and IT.  He is a systems thinker with a consistent eagerness to help and a can-do attitude.

Adrian was appointed to the Village Leadership Academy board in October 2017 and recently assumed the position of board chair.

Andrea Estes, Board Vice-Chair

Andrea grew up in the Treasure Valley and studied elementary education and social work at BSU, before moving to Southeast Asia for 3 years with her husband, where she worked for a cross-cultural, faith-based non-profit organization. Currently, she works at St Luke’s as a newborn hearing screener. She loves interacting with families as they celebrate their new additions and also encountering the cultural diversity that comes through the hospital. She home-educated her own kids for several years with the support of a home-education-focused charter school in Boise and this was her family’s first experience with the charter school system in Idaho. She shares the charter school community’s value of education choice suited to the needs and core values of each family. Her two children spent 6 years at Village Leadership Academy, graduating as 8th graders. Andrea values the philosophy and community of Village Leadership Academy, believes there is leadership in every child, and continues to be excited about the future of our school. She has served on the board for several terms and is grateful for the high-quality individuals she has been privileged to work with.
